Bedtime

You’ve definitely been there; the fight to get your child to take a bath, put pajamas on, settle down with a book or a song, and ultimately fall asleep. Sometimes it takes 25 minutes, but we all know the reality. It’s usually hours! How many times have you read “Good Night Moon” or “The Cat in the Hat?” How many times have you belted out your best version of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star?” Most times, putting your child to bed leaves you even more exhausted and ready to tuck yourself into whatever pile of sheets (or stuffed animals) is closest to you.

You’ve read the articles about music being able to simulate a child’s creativity and enhance learning. Heck, you may have even held earbuds up to your pregnant belly (or your spouse’s) because you heard that playing classical music before you even gave birth would get your child into Harvard. Yes, it’s true. Music is great for children; babies, toddlers, kids, tweens, teens, and everyone in the middle. But, it’s also great for adults! We know the struggle here – you get bored of the same old nursery rhymes and books. But, by singing along to songs you know (and like), our Kidioke research team has proven that bedtime becomes that much more fun for you and your kids!

Think about it – instead of trying to think of an innovative way to sing another rendition of “Old McDonald,” you are singing a song that actually tells a story and that is recognizable everywhere! Take the song “What a Wonderful World,” by Louis Armstrong. When you open the Kidioke app (or the book version) and sing the song with your kids, they’ll be able to see the animated story on the tablet, phone, or pages of the book. That is what engages the brain and creativity. It’s connecting the sound, music, words, and story together. It’s also a song that is used in commercials, heard on oldies radio stations, and played at parties or events. Think of how impressed your friends would be if you were out to eat at a restaurant, and all of a sudden your kid is singing alongside Louis Armstrong as you hear the song played through the speakers! They’ll be even more impressed when you tell your friends this is how you get your child to fall asleep!

Watch the video below to see what we mean. We know that the bedtime struggle is real. We know that you may have tried every soundbook, song, show tune, or nursery rhyme possible. Kidioke will change the way your child sees bedtime. Active participation will allow your child to use his or her creativity and imagination, thus exerting more energy, and allowing them to close their eyes a little easier than before.

So, the next time you’re struggling to find a good song, book, or story to try and calm your child down before bed, think of one of your favorite songs and reach for Kidioke!
